Serpent’s Tail’s crime imprint Viper has acquired two thrillers from David Jackson, including "heart-pounding" thriller No Secrets and a second untitled novel.
Miranda Jewess, editorial director, bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Oli Munson at A M Heath. No Secrets will be published in July 2022.
The synopsis reads: "No Secrets tells the story of a highly empathic young woman called Izzy, who has the ability to tell when those closest to her are lying, and so has cut herself off from the world. Children have started going missing, and when Izzy sees a man from her past being interviewed on television, claiming that he saw one of the victims being bundled into a car, she immediately knows that he’s lying. But why? When the police won’t believe her story, Izzy decides to discover the truth for herself."
Jewess said: "I’m so pleased that David will be writing more books for Viper. He has been with us from the very beginning and is a key part of our publishing, as well as being absolutely wonderful to work with. No Secrets is a heart-pounding thriller, with David’s trademark pacing and dark humour, shot through with humanity. I’m very much looking forward to sharing it with David’s loyal readers."
Jackson added: "I was one of the first authors to be signed up by Miranda for the new Viper imprint, and I’m delighted to be able to keep that relationship going. Miranda is one of the very best editors in the business and has already achieved amazing success for her authors. I trust her and the other members of the Viper team to make my books the best they can be."
Viper published Jackson's The Resident in 2020 and published The Rule on 1st July 2021.
