The Cambridge Satchel Co is partnering with publisher Vintage to create a special edition 'ultimate book bag'.
The bag will be a 13-inch 'batchel' or hybrid of the briefcase and satchel, in Vintage-inspired vermilion, embossed with both brands’ logos. The first 50 bags sold will come with one of 16 Vintage books selected by Julie Deane, founder of The Cambridge Satchel Co, as well as a free Cambridge Satchel bookmark. They will be available to purchase both in shops and online.
The partnership will also include regular reviews of Vintage books on The Cambridge Satchel Co’s online journal, and a competition to win a Cambridge Satchel Co Mini Trunk, filled with 26 books from the Vintage Minis collection. There will also be events held in The Cambridge Satchel Co’s Cambridge, London and Edinburgh shops in the run up to Christmas featuring interviews and book signings with Vintage authors Charlotte Higgins, author of Greek Myths, Juliet Nicolson, author of Frostquake, and Denise Mina, author of The Less Dead.
Deane said: "This collaboration makes so much sense for us – the iconic bookbag with the most iconic selection of books. We are so honoured to be working with Vintage and its appreciation of timeless classics resonates so well with what we do."
A spokesperson from Vintage added: ‘With their beautiful, thoughtful designs, The Cambridge Satchel Co’s satchels make ideal book bags for Vintage books, and we hope that this festive collaboration will introduce even more readers to our authors’ brilliant words."
