Vintage will publish US Vice-President Kamala Harris' memoir, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, in a young readers edition on 6th May 2021.
Beth Coates, publishing director for Vintage Paperbacks, acquired UK and British Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, with non-exclusive open market rights from Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein.
The Truths We Hold tells the story of Harris' journey to the White House; from her childhood and education in Oakland, a community that cared deeply about social justice, to what led her to discover her own sense of self and purpose. The "inspiring and empowering" memoir will also challenge readers to become leaders in their own lives and show that with determination and perseverance all dreams are possible.
The young readers edition, suitable for readers aged 11 plus, will showcase Harris' fight against injustice and her work giving a voice to the voiceless as well as her vision for the US, in terms relevant and suitable for a younger audience, says Vintage.
