Viking to publish new Penguin Horror series this Halloween
Viking will publish a new five-book series this Halloween, featuring literary horror writing of the 20th century.
The Penguin Horror series will include works by JB Priestley, Edith Wharton, Hilda Lewis, and Rosalind Ashe, as well as an anthology of classic horror stories by authors such as Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe and Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
The books will be published in paperback and e-book on 16th October.

Designed by junior designer Alisha Kruse and deputy art director Chris Bentham, the look of the series is inspired by the Penguin genre paperbacks of the 1960s and ’70s, as well as horror’s early roots in mythology, folklore and the Gothic.
"Penguin Horror is a celebration of all that goes bump in the night," said Edward Kirke, commissioning editor at Viking. "From headless horsemen and spectral handwriting to witches’ covens and families with dark secrets, the stories in this series are defined by their continued ability to profoundly frighten. These are books that have unnerved and terrified for generations, and I can’t wait to share them with readers today."
