Ebury imprint Vermilion is to publish GRIT: Passion, Perseverance and the Science of Success, after winning a “hotly contested auction”.
The book, by Angela Duckworth, was one of the big books of this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair.
Vemilion publishing director Susanna Abbott bought UK and Commonwealth rights from Bill Hamilton at A M Heath.
Grit explores the concept of being gritty and how people can harness their grit to achieve their goals.
It is based on Duckworth’s research at the University of Pennsylvania, and follows on from the author’s TED talk, which has had more than 5m views.
Abbott said: “I was determined to publish this book from the moment I set eyes on it. Grit is the key to achieving our life goals, to being our best selves. Angela Duckworth’s brilliant book will have a profound impact not just on the way we perceive and plan for success but also on how we manage, parent and build relationships.”
Vermilion will publish Grit in hardback in spring 2016.
