The US has halved its tariffs on books made in China to 7.5% as the trade war between the two countries eases.
Tariffs of 15% on books manufactured in the country were first imposed by the Donald Trump administration in September 2019.
However, the US later announced a cut in the charge, which also affects around 3,200 products including electronics and clothing, from 14th February.
The move was made as part of a phase one agreement reached between the countries in December.
That saw new tariffs on products including children’s books halted just before they were due to come into force.
The 15% levy had been criticised by UK gift and children’s publishers including Bloomsbury and Pavilion while the Publishers Association had called for the government to take a stand.
China is also easing its own retaliatory tariffs on US goods, cutting some to 5% and others to 2.5%.
