Urban poetry in Chatto debut

<p>Chatto has bought Kick Me (A Love Story), a first novel by a young British writer, Gemma Weekes.

Weekes' novel follows a young woman who, in common with the author, has roots in St Lucia, and who journeys from Hackney to New York in search of an elusive boy. "Weekes captures the mood and atmosphere of young people's lives in London and New York with a brilliant kind of urban poetry," Rebecca Carter at Chatto says.
