Union seeks meeting with Eason's management

<p>Members of the Irish union Siptu have voted to back Eason&#39;s proposals to defer last year&#39;s Christmas bonus. The union is seeking a meeting with Eason&#39;s management to discuss its future plans. </p><p>Last year the Irish bookseller backtracked from imposing a 12.5% pay cut on its 1,500 employees.<br />However, it proposed deferring 2009&#39;s Christmas bonus, which amounts to one week&#39;s pay, as it conducts a strategic review of the business. </p><p>Noel Maguire of Siptu said the proposal was backed &quot;overwhelmingly&quot; by its members. </p>
