Unbound has announced it is making seven more redundancies across the firm, including two more posts from its commissioning team.
Five jobs will also go from design, tech and administration, the firm announced. It follows a strategic review of the business that has seen Unbound change tack, looking to launch fewer books while developing pre-order partnerships with publishers.
A mooted office move has been ditched in favour of staying at the current premises in Angel, north London.
The latest job losses come after four redundancies were made last year at the company‚Äôs digital imprint and the firm “paused” accepting submissions for its digital list.
That followed a previous round of redundancies in 2018 when four members of the commissioning team—a third of the 12-strong group—were made redundant.
Co-founder John Mitchinson said: "I can confirm we have recently made redundancies across the company as we continue to implement the strategy announced in The Bookseller last summer.
“We are always looking to innovate and find new ways of doing things to push publishing forward. That requires us to expand and contract our staffing numbers as the business evolves."
Unbound launched its first pre-order partnership with Bloomsbury last year, opening up its platform to some of the publisher’s titles.
