Large print publisher Ulverscroft and independent publisher Orenda Books have entered a new partnership that will see an increase in Orenda's audio publications, and at least 12 large print editions released a year.
The new deal will also see more Orenda titles stocked in libraries internationally.
The two companies have already worked together for four years.
Orenda founder and publisher Karen Sullivan said: “I am absolutely thrilled with this deal. Ulverscroft shares many of the same visions and ambitions that we do, and their attention to detail, brilliant publishing, and exceptional audio production will more than do our books justice. Multiple formats mean more readers, and we are eager to continue to bring our award-winning international literature to as many people as we can.
"Libraries continue to be an invaluable resource, and ensuring that our books are available worldwide is so important to us. Similarly, audiobooks are reaching wider audiences than ever, and high-quality narrations amplify the voices of our incredible authors’ work. It’s been a joy to work with Ulverscroft and we are delighted to have the opportunity to move forward together.”
Becky Hobson, group publishing manager at Ulverscroft, added: “We’ve been envious of the Orenda list for some time—although we have produced some of their fabulous authors in audio and LP, we have always been keen to do more. Storytellers from across the world unite on Orenda, and I’m so pleased that we’ll be giving voice to their imaginings.”
Orenda, which recently won the CWA Crime & Mystery Publisher of the Year Dagger Award, is set to release Deity by Matt Wesolowski, historical thriller The Assistant by Kjell Ola Dahl and This Is How We Are Human by Louise Beech this year.
