The final list of authors attending the UK’s first Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC), hosted by Waterstones Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman, has been announced.
Newly added names include US author Rainbow Rowell, whose first YA title Eleanor & Park (Orion) spent six weeks in the New York Times Bestseller chart, publisher and award-winning author of In Darkness (Bloomsbury Childrens), Nick Lake and Heart Shaped Bruise (Headline) author, Tanya Byrne.
Also joining the line-up is Welsh 18-year-old author Beth Reekles, who self-published her first novel, The Kissing Booth, on Wattpad (subsequently published by Random House, along with her second Rolling Dice, with a third commissioned) and was named by Time magazine as one of the 16 most influential teenagers in the world last year. Another high profile new name confirmed is Robert Muchamore, the author of the CHERUB and Henderson’s Boys series (Hodder Children’s Books), who has sold 2,619,941 books through Nielsen BookScan.
The YALC will take place at the London Film and Comic Con at Earl’s Court, London on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13rd July. It will feature a host of author events in a dedicated Book Zone, with talks, workshops, signings, a book sales area and publisher stands promoting new and upcoming titles. The Convention is supported by Prudential plc and the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society.
Previously announced authors who will be attending include US co-author of The Spiderwick Chronicles (Simon and Schuster Children’s), Holly Black, double-Carnegie Medal winner Patrick Ness and Irish author Darren Shan.
