Author Khaled Hosseini is to visit the UK in October for a Bloomsbury Institute event and media interviews.
Hosseini, whose novel And The Mountains Echoed is currently at number four on the original fiction bestseller chart, will do the event on 10th October, publication date for a new trade paperback edition of the book (£12.99).
The onstage interview will be held at the Royal Institution's Faraday Theatre, with Hosseini answering questions from the audience and signing copies of his books. Twelve Waterstones stores in the London and south east will promote the event, as well as targeting Waterstones points card holders. Hosseini will also do interviews for the BBC Radio 4 Book Club, BBC Radio 2's Simon Mayo, and newspapers including the Times, Financial Times, Daily Mail and Independent.
Katie Bond, Bloomsbury marketing and publicity director, said: "We planned a year-long marketing campaign for Khaled Hosseini’s And the Mountains Echoed in 2013. It began with a media blitz and national rail outdoor advertising on launch, buses and continued with a bespoke Kindle cover promotion." Fans can buy an And The Mountains Echoed case for the Kindle for a limited time.
Bond added: "Now we have the author visit and UK trade paperback in the run-up to Christmas. Khaled is as beloved as his books by everyone at Bloomsbury and we’re thrilled that his UK readers will be able to meet him and hear him talk in October."
Bloomsbury said And The Mountains Echoed had sold 500,000 copies in print and digital across the UK and export markets since its release on 21st May. Nielsen BookScan has recorded 75,000 print sales. The novel was included in the recent 99p e-book promotion from Nook and Amazon.
