UEA graduate makes debut

Helen Garnons-Williams has bought for Weidenfeld a debut novel by Adam Foulds, a graduate of the creative writing course at the University of East Anglia.

The Truth about These Strange Times tells the story of an extraordinary friendship between a child genius and a lonely, overweight and uncommunicative Scot. It is "brilliant, funny, finely-honed and touching", Garnons-Williams says. She bought UK and Commonwealth rights (exc Canada) at auction through Anna Webber at PFD, for publication in summer 2007.
