Two Roads has acquired two novels by Peter Hannington, a producer at BBC Radio 4.
Publisher Lisa Highton bought world rights from John Saddler at The Saddler Agency.
Hanington’s first novel, titled A Dying Breed, is set in the contemporary world of foreign correspondents reporting from war zones around the world. When a bomb goes off in Kabul killing a local official, Carver, an old BBC hack, is warned off the story. But his instincts tell him something isn't quite right and he won't give up until he finds the truth.
Patrick, a junior producer, is sent out to control him, but as the story unravels it looks like there's collusion between the local Consul, Whitehall and someone in the BBC to ensure the real story never sees the light of day.
Highton said: “A Dying Breed is a brilliant piece of storytelling and a wonderful addition to the Two Roads list.”
Hannington said: “Some stories are easier to tell than others and this has taken a long time to find the right form and the right moment.”
Hanington has worked on BBC Radio 4’s “Today” programme for more than 12 years.
A Dying Breed will be published in May 2016.
