John Murray Press imprint Saltyard Books has bought a marmalade cookbook and a guide to the kitchen garden.
Publisher Elizabeth Hallett bought world rights to Marmalade: A Bittersweet Cookbook by Sainsbury's Magazine food director Sarah Randell [pictured] from Heather Holden-Brown at HHB Agency. The book will be published in November 2014. The book will teach home cooks how to perfect the set of their marmalade, and balance its bittersweet taste, offer suggestions for variations with fruits, spices and essences, and provide recipes including spiced Christmas ham and bitter orange chocolate pudding. The book is scheduled for publication in November 2014.
Hallett also bought world rights to The New Kitchen Garden by journalist and photographer Mark Diacono, doing the deal with Caroline Michel at PFD.
Diacono ran the garden team at River Cottage and appeared in the TV series, and now runs Otter Farm, Britain's only climate-change farm. The New Kitchen Garden "will take readers from pot to plate, offering a guide through the entire process of imagining, creating and then enjoying your own kitchen garden." The book is due out in March 2015.
