More Angus & Robertson stores have been marked for the scrapheap, resulting in a further 100 redundancies.
Administrator Ferrier Hodgson has earmarked 12 more in the Australian bookshop chain to close, on top of the 37 already announced last month, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The stores’ parent company REDgroup, which operates the A&R chain and Borders in Australia, went into administration on 17th February, making 321 people redundant.
The store casualties will not affect the A&R franchise outlets, which function independently of REDgroup, or Borders Online and Angus & Robertson Online.
The 12 shops that will close are in: Bondi Junction; Belconnen, ACT; Airport West, Chadstone, Shepparton, Wantirna and Wendouree, Victoria; Gympie and Indooroopilly, Queensland; Mount Gambier and Munno Para, South Australia; and Ocean Keys, Western Australia.
The closures will result in 102 people being made redundant.
