Lisa Cutts' debut crime novel Never Forget (Myriad Editions) has been optioned for television by the company behind Midsomer Murders.
Bentley Productions optioned the rights directly from the publisher.
Cutts, a serving police officer, was discovered by Myriad through its annual Writer’s Retreat Competition for a work in progress.
Candida Lacey, Myriad publisher and managing director, said: “Lisa’s work combines authenticity of plot with brilliant characterisation: her heroine, Nina, is a straight-talking, ambitious young woman starting out on a police career. The contrast to all the hard-bitten, dysfunctional middle-aged male detectives we are accustomed to reading about is marked.
“We are so thrilled that a company with the prestigious track record of Bentley Productions can see the potential in this character. This has the makings of a wonderful series.”
