Profile Books has taken on the publication of "micro-imprint" Tuskar Rock, created by Colm Tóibín and Peter Straus.
The list was originally published as part of Atlantic Books, and was the original British publisher for Christos Tsiolkas' The Slap. It was set up by twice Man Booker Prize-nominate Tóibín and Rogers, Coleridge and White m.d. Peter Straus in 2008, originally to produce limited hand-set collectors editions.
Serpent's Tail publisher Hannah Westland will now be in-house publisher for the list, which will release titles in hardback and trade paperback under the Tuskar Rock imprint, and then appear as Serpent's Tail for B format paperbacks. Profile has acquired rights to publish the titles in hardback and trade paperback, but will not publish the imprint's backlist titles.
Tóibín and Straus will continue to acquire for the list.
Andrew Franklin, Profile m.d., said: "We are honoured to be the new home for Colm Tóibín’s Tuskar Rock Press, an extraordinarily distinguished micro-list. It had a spectacular success with Christos Tsiolkas' The Slap, and we are very proud to have its next two books in the pipeline."
The next two books it releases will be Antonio Muñoz Molina's In the Night of Time in March 2015, and László Krasznahorkai's Seiobo There Below in August 2015. Westland said: "It is really exciting to be taking on the Tuskar Rock list, and even better to be starting by publishing two of the world's most distinguished writers."
Atlantic restructured in January, when Australian publisher Allen & Unwin became a majority shareholder in the business. C.e.o. and publisher Toby Mundy resigned in June this year, with a replacement yet to be announced.
