Trierweiler kiss-tell memoir sales 145,000 in first week

The French Booksellers Association (Syndicat de la Librairie Française, SLF) has denied media reports that many booksellers are refusing to sell the kiss-and-tell book Merci pour ce moment (Thanks for the Moment) written by President François Hollande’s ex-partner Valérie Trierweiler.

“These reactions exist, but they are really isolated (…) and cannot be presented as those of the profession as a whole,” the SLF said in a statement today. Retailers are free to stock the titles of their choice, but are legally bound to order all books requested by a customer, the statement added.
