Transworld editorial director Brenda Kimber is to retire after more than 30 years with the company.
Kimber’s editorial career with Transworld began in 1988 and she quickly established herself as one of the key editors in the mind body and spirit genre, publishing books such as the million-copy bestseller The Celestine Prophecy and John O’Donohue’s Anam Cara, said the publisher. Since then she has published a diverse range of books, including A Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown, Deepak Chopra’s The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success and, most recently, Matthew Todd’s award-winning polemic Straight Jacket.
Kimber said: "It has been an enormous privilege to be part of the Transworld team for so many years. I will take with me very happy memories and wonderful friends, who have been incredibly supportive during my long career. Although Transworld has been a major part of my life through the years, I now look forward to pursuing my many interests and have lots of exciting plans for the future."
Transworld publisher Bill Scott-Kerr said: "Throughout her time with Transworld, Brenda has been a much-valued, dedicated member of the editorial team, and a very good friend to many of us. I would like to thank her for her commitment, her sound common sense and good humour, and we all wish her the very best for the future."
Kimber will formally leave Transworld at the end of June, but will continue to work part-time until the end of September, to assist with the publication of Hana Ali’s memoir At Home with Muhammad Ali and Thomas Morris’s The Mystery of theExploding Teeth, which traces the evolution of modern medicine.
