Transworld publishing director Doug Young has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, including serial, in a memoir by 'St Elmo's Fire' and 'West Wing' actor Rob Lowe.
Young bought Stories I Only Tell My Friends on a pre-empt for an undisclosed sum after Henry Holt and Company acquired world rights from Jennifer Rudoph Walsh at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment. Transworld will publish in May 2011.
Stories I Only Tell My Friends is described as "a mid-career meditation on [Lowe's] four decades as an actor" and is being written by Lowe himself.
The actor is said to "look back on his travails as a fledgling and misunderstood child actor in Ohio, his transition to rough, counter culture free-for-all that was Malibu in the mid seventies, his wild ride from as een idol to movie star at the beginning of today's youth movement in entertainment to his current status as one of Hollywood’s top actors."
Lowe is currently starring in the TV series 'Brothers & Sisters'.
