Transworld buys Lowe memoir

<p>Transworld publishing director Doug Young has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, including serial, in a memoir by &#39;St Elmo&#39;s Fire&#39; and &#39;West Wing&#39; actor Rob Lowe. </p><p>Young bought <em> Stories I Only Tell My Friends</em> on a pre-empt for an undisclosed sum after Henry Holt and Company acquired world rights from Jennifer Rudoph Walsh at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment. Transworld will publish in May 2011.</p><p><em>Stories I Only Tell My Friends</em> is described as &quot;a mid-career meditation on [Lowe&#39;s] four decades as an actor&quot; and is being written by Lowe himself. </p><p>The actor is said to &quot;look back on his travails as a fledgling and misunderstood child actor in Ohio, his transition to rough, counter culture free-for-all that was Malibu in the mid seventies, his wild ride from as een idol to movie star at the beginning of today&#39;s youth movement in entertainment to his current status as one of Hollywood&rsquo;s top actors.&quot;</p><p>Lowe is currently starring in the TV series &#39;Brothers &amp; Sisters&#39;. </p>
