Transworld buys comic travel memoir

<p>Transworld editorial director Simon Taylor has bought UK and Commonwealth rights to the comic travel memoir <em>Narrow Dog at Wigan Pier</em>.</p><p>The book, by Terry Darlington, is the third in the Narrow Dog series. Taylor bought the rights for a good five figure sum from David Smith at the Annette Green Authors Agency. The book will be published in 2012.</p><p>The book is about Darlington&#39;s journey around the waterways of northern England, accompanied by his wife Monica, whippet Jim and new dog Jess.</p><p>Taylor said: &quot;People were reminded just what a true original he is, how beautifully he writes, and how very, very funny he can be.&quot;</p><p>Smith said: &quot;I think this is going to be Terry&rsquo;s best book yet. Not only is it a very witty exploration of Englishness and a compelling travelogue, it is also a hilarious and poignant reminiscence of a life well-lived. Terry is a talent like no other.&quot;</p>
