Andrea Busfield’s as yet untitled new novel has been acquired by Jane Lawson at Transworld Publishers. Her debut, Born Under a Million Shadows, has sold in sixteen territories.
UK and Commonwealth rights were acquired from Charlie Campbell at Ed Victor Ltd. Transworld will publish as a Black Swan original in early 2010.
The novel is set in Cyprus and spans the British occupation of 1955 to the war of 1974. It tells the "highly charged" story of three sons – a schoolboy-resistance fighter, a carpenter, and a journalist - from a large Greek Cypriot family. Transworld describe it as a, "lingering tragedy of territorial conflict is mirrored in a central all-consuming love affair".
Lawson added: "Busfield is a natural-born storyteller who loves to explore big themes on a wide, tempestuous canvas."
