Trade revs up for World Book Day

Thousands of events are taking place today (10th March) in bookshops, libraries and schools throughout the UK to mark World Book Day, Andrew Stone writes. A number of booksellers and publishers are creating their own WBD offers.</p><p>

One of the most newsworthy events this year will be the announcement of the WBD poll to find the nation's favourite author. Leading contenders for the honour include such diverse talents as Jane Austen, R L Stine, Patricia Cornwell, J K Rowling, Charles Dickens, J R R Tolkien and Wilbur Smith.</p><p>
