Independent publisher Tonto Books has secured world rights to author Robert Endeacott’s latest novel for an undisclosed sum. Publisher Stu Wheatman negotiated the deal with Endeacott directly, and will be publishing Scandal FC on 1st September 2011.
Scandal FC will be the third of Endeacott’s historical novels about Leeds United FC, focusing on the controversial characters to have associated with the club since Don Revie was manager in the 1960s. Dirty Leeds was published in 2009, with his second novel, Disrepute: Don Revie’s England, coming out in June 2010 to coincide with the World Cup.
Stu Wheatman of Tonto Books said: “It’s been a joy working with Robert. I remember his query letter coming in two years ago where, making reference to Newcastle and Leeds United, he said Newcastle had taken some of Leeds’ best players over the years and asked if Tonto wanted to sign one of the city’s best writers. With an approach like that I felt obliged to read his submission.”
