Octopus imprint Mitchell Beazley will publish a new title by celebrity chef, restaurateur and “spice sensation” Cyrus Todiwala.
Mr Todiwala’s Spice Box will have recipes mixing Western food with Indian flavours to “create recipes that make innovative and delicious use of spices”.
Octopus group publishing director Denise Bates bought world rights from Anna-Louise Naylor-Leyland at Fork Off Management. Bates said: “[Todiwala] proves you really don’t need a cupboard full of hundreds of different spices to cook the most delicious, full-flavoured Indian food—it’s a hugely appealing approach.”
Mumbai-born Todiwala was an executive chef at the Indian hotel chain Taj before moving to London in 1991, where he founded four restaurants and launched the Mr Todiwala range of condiments. He has previously written three cookery titles, for Hardie Grant, BBC Books and Ebury respectively.
