Stripes Publishing, an imprint of the Little Tiger Group, has acquired a magical rhyming series by Michelle Harrison.
Suitable for readers aged six and higher, Midnight Magic is about a magic kitten who has magical powers. Commissioning editor Katie Jennings bought world rights to three books from Julia Churchill at A.M. Heath and will publish the first two in 2020.
Jennings said: “From the very first verse, we were utterly charmed by Michelle’s classic feline tale, which overspills with imagination, warmth and humour. In Midnight, she conjures up a black cat with a difference. Midnight may have magical power in her paws, but she is very much a real cat! We are just so excited to be publishing Midnight’s adventures.”
Harrison is a former bookseller and editorial assistant and won the 2009 Waterstones Children's Book Prize for Thirteen Treasures, published by S&S Children’s.
