Three-book Peppers deal for HC

<p>HarperCollins Children&#39;s Books has signed a three-book deal with children&#39;s writer and illustrator Si&acirc;n Pattenden for The Peppers, a new magic-themed series for pre-teen readers. </p><p>The first book in the series, as yet untitled, will be released in February 2012. It will introduce the central characters, twins Esme and Monty Pepper, and their magician uncle, Snapely. The books will be targeted at readers aged nine and above. </p><p>The deal, which was concluded by Harriet Wilson, editorial director of HarperCollins Children&#39;s Books, and Clare Conville of literary agency Conville Walsh, is for world rights, including film, audio, TV and merchandising. </p><p>The Peppers is Pattenden&#39;s second book series for children. Her first, a trllogy also published by HarperCollins Children&#39;s Books, was wreleased between 2006 and 2008. <em>The Awful Tale of Agatha Bilke</em>, the inaugural title in the series, was shortlisted for three prizes, including the Sheffield Children&#39;s Book Award and the Glen Dimplex New Writers Award.<br /><br /><br />&nbsp;</p>
