Simon & Schuster has reported a third quarter revenue rise, said to reflect the rise in digital book sales.
The publisher's parent company, CBS, announced its third quarter results yesterday (6th November).
Revenues for Simon & Schuster internationally for the three months ended 31st September stood at $224m (£139m), up 7% from $210m (£130m) in the same period in 2012. Operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) for the third quarter was $43m (£27m), up 10% from $39m (£24m) in the same period last year.
Sales of digital books rose 39% from the same period in 2012, now representing 27% of Simon & Schuster's total revenues, up from 21% last year.
The report singled out Stephen King's Doctor Sleep and Si Robertson's Si-cology 1 as bestsellers for the period.
As a whole, CBS reported revenues of $3.6bn (££2.2bn), up 11% from the same period last year, and OIBDA of $941m (£585m), a 4% growth.
