Titles on Shakespeare, ballet and producer Michael Codron have been shortlisted for the Theatre Book Prize, for titles published in 2010.
The list comprises Actors and Acting in Shakespeare’s Time by John H Astington (Cambridge University Press), Shakespeare on Stage: Thirteen Leading Actors on Thirteen Key Roles by Julian Curry (Nick Hern Books) and Diaghilev & The Golden Age of the Ballet Russes, edited by Jane Pritchard (V&A).
Michael Codron and Alan Strachan’s Putting it On: The West End Theatre of Michael Codron (Duckworth) and The Reluctant Escapologist by Mike Bradwell (also Nick Hern Books) completes the list.
The winner will be announced on 18th May. The prize was inaugurated in 1997 to celebrate the jubilee of the Society for Theatre Research to encourage the writing and publication of books on British theatre history and practice.
