Thames and Hudson has appointed Christian Frederking as sales and marketing director. Tim Evans, who currently holds the role, will retire after Frankfurt Book Fair in October when Frederking will step up.
Frederking joined Thames & Hudson 10 years ago as head of the international rights department. He began his career in Germany as a bookseller, then went on to be a sales manager at Rowohlt Publishing Group. He then moved to Paris to work with the French book club, France Loisirs, then moved to America to work for Bantam Doubleday Dell. He also worked in Germany at the then family-owned publishing house of Frederking & Thaler.
Frederking said: "I am very excited about this new role and much look forward to working with such an experienced team of colleagues in the sales and marketing department and with the publishers for whom we distribute."
Jamie Camplin, managing director said: "This is wonderful news not only for T&H, but for our far-flung community of authors and our many friends and associates in the book trade worldwide.
"Christian's skills in team-building and leadership, his varied experience in a range of commercial roles and his detailed understanding of how high-quality illustrated books are conceived, created, promoted, marketed and sold, will spearhead T&H's plans to develop markets and to increase market share in mature environments."
