Textbook price rise slows

<p>The average price of academic textbooks in the UK rose just 0.7% last year, far below the increase in the retail price index (4.3%).</p><p>Textbooks in 2007 cost an average &pound;46.39, according to a report by the Library and Information Statistics Unit at Loughborough University. </p><p>The PA&#39;s Graham Taylor said the report showed that academic publishers can no longer be accused of over-inflationary price increases: &quot;These figures demonstrate a tighter market with more price sensitivity.&quot;</p>
