Tesco is expected to unveil its new own-brand tablet device on 23rd September.
The retailer has sent invitations out to press saying “we have something to show you”, with its new ‘Hudl’ trademark.
The device is expected to be priced at around £99, according to the Guardian, to compete with Google’s Nexus tablet and Amazon’s Kindle Fire. It is also expected to come pre-uploaded with Blinkbox platforms, included Blinkbox Books, and be tailored towards online grocery shopping.
News that Tesco was to release an own-branded e-reader first surfaced in August. Few other details about the product have been leaked.
Last month, The Bookseller reported that Garry Blackman, previously head of books at Tesco, would lead supplier relations for blinkbox books and have a “broader ambassadorial role” for the company.
