Tesco earmarks books for growth

Tesco has confirmed that it is planning to stock books in 48 new Esso petrol station stores to be opened in the next financial year.</p><p>
The "Express" format, which accounts for 81 outlets at present, is a 2,000 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft convenience store package for Esso petrol station forecourts, the result of an earlier pilot deal with the fuel company.</p><p>
Caroline Ridding, Tesco books buyer, said books would form part of the product mix in the new Express stores, although the date was still to be confirmed for their introduction.</p><p>
