Tesco earmarks books for growth

<p>Tesco has confirmed that it is planning to stock books in 48 new Esso petrol station stores to be opened in the next financial year. The "Express" format, which accounts for 81 outlets at present, is a 2,000 sq ft to 2,500 sq ft convenience store package for Esso petrol station forecourts, the result of an earlier pilot deal with the fuel company. Caroline Ridding, Tesco books buyer, said books would form part of the product mix in the new Express stores, although the date was still to be confirmed for their introduction.</p><p> The news followed the release of Tesco's preliminary result...
