The British Library has announced the shortlist for the inaugural Michael Marks Awards for Poetry Pamphlets, in partnership with the Poetry Book Society and the Michael Marks Charitable Trust.
Out of 120 entries, six poets and four publishers have been nominated for the two £5,000 prizes, which aim to "highlight the importance of the pamphlet form in introducing new poetry to readers and to celebrate the continuing vibrancy of the print pamphlet in the internet age".
The winners will be revealed on 24th June. Ian McMillan, chair of the judges, said: “I had a wonderful time judging the pamphlets and the quality of work sent in underlines my belief that the pamphlet is the engine room, the test bed and the coal face of poetry in this country.
