Templar to publish children’s titles from Jane Foster

Templar is set to publish the first children’s books from textile artist and designer Jane Foster.

The First Picture Word Book and 123 are designed for the early-years market. The illustrations are “retro-inspired” and feature “distinctive graphics to encourage and stimulate counting and phonetics”.

Templar acquired world rights to the books from Claudia Kennerley at Palazzo Editions.

“Having long been an admirer of Jane’s stunning, retro-inspired textile designs, I am delighted that Templar will be publishing the first two titles in her preschool range next year,” said creative director Helen Wicks. “Her endearing animal characters and vibrant graphics are immensely appealing toboth children and their design- conscious parents.”

Both books will be released in May 2015.

Foster is based in Totnes, Devon, where she has her own design, screen print and sewing studio. She is also the author of the Fun with Fabric, an arts and craft book for adults published by Collins and Brown in 2013.
