Teach Yourself, an imprint of John Murray Learning specialising in self-instruction, is collaborating with a high-profile language blogger to create a "groundbreaking" new series called Language Hacking.
Sarah Cole, publishing director at John Murray Learning, acquired world rights to Language Hacking in French, Spanish, German and Italian by Benny Lewis, to publish on 8th September. Each book is priced at £14.99.
The "language hacking" method was devised by Lewis, "one of the world’s greatest polyglots", who taught himself to speak 11 languages, including Mandarin Chinese and Arabic, despite not speaking a language other than English before the age of 21.
The series uses a process that Lewis developed after becoming "frustrated with traditional language learning approaches".
Lewis runs the world’s largest language blog, www.fluentin3months.com, where he breaks down the language learning process for almost one million unique visitors every month. The method is also shared via YouTube videos that have racked up 6.1m views thus far.
Lewis said: "I've been using Teach Yourself courses in my language travels for almost 15 years. I am so excited to be working with the team, and helping them make the next generation's beginner courses."
Lewis is an Irish Language Ambassador for the EU and in 2013 was named National Geographic Traveller of the Year. His first book, Fluent in 3 Months (Collins), was published in 2014.
