Taschen readies blast off on moon landing title

<p>Illustrated publisher Taschen is readying a $1,000 book on the Apollo moon landing, which was written by the late Norman Mailer.</p><p>Publishers Weekly reports that Moonfire:the Epic Journey of Apollo 11 will be published next month and is limited to 1969 copies to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. Each book will feature a signed and framed photo of astronaut Buzz Aldrin.</p><p>The final 12 copies of the print run (numbers 1958 to 1969) will include a fragment of moon meteorite. The prices of these 12 &#39;Lunar Rock&#39; editions has yet to be determined.</p><p>According to Amazon.co.uk, the book will be avaialble in September, priced &pound;600. Publisher Benedikt Taschen said: &quot;As a child in the &#39;60s there is not a single memory that stands out more to me than the landing of Apollo 11 on the moon. The visual impact of this particular day in history has stayed with me ever since, and it has been a dream of mine to conceive a book, or rather a tribute, to this memorable achievement.&quot;</p>
