Taschen has opened a “concept space” in Selfridges in partnership with WH Smith.
The art book publisher has opened the visually striking area as part of WH Smith’s concession space in the London Oxford Street department store.
A Taschen spokesperson told The Bookseller that for the past year it had been working closely with WH Smith at Selfridges. The new store also reveals the new Taschen brand identity.
“The full branded space features the new Taschen brand identity, our bookworms designed by London based agency Graphic Thought Facility, and is now a focal point for the books both big and small,” the spokesperson said.
“With plans for future events to take place in the store, this is great opportunity for people visiting the Selfridges store to see Taschen’s luxury product.”
The space also marks the publisher’s 35 year anniversary.
It has previously opened a Taschen Gallery in Los Angeles at the end of 2014 and a stand-alone store in Milan, designed by Marc Newson and Jonas Wood, which opened in April during the Salone del Mobile.
