Actress Tanya Reynolds will read the audiobook of Elizabeth Day’s forthcoming novel Magpie (Fourth Estate) which will be released along with the hardback and e-book on 2nd September.
Reynolds is best known for her roles as Lily in the Netflix series "Sex Education" and as Mrs Elton in the 2020 film "Emma".
Magpie is described by the publisher as "a thrilling, stylish and psychologically astute story of jealousy, motherhood and power". It has received advance praise from the likes of Lisa Taddeo, Marian Keyes, Kate Mosse and Sara Collins.
Reynolds said: “I was completely gripped by Magpie and I was thrilled to be asked to narrate it. Elizabeth writes in such a way that you can't help but devour chapter after chapter in one sitting. The only thing better than reading it was getting to read it again.”
Day added: “I was so thrilled when Tanya agreed to narrate Magpie. I'm a huge fan of hers from 'Sex Education' and her hilarious turn as Mrs Collins in 'Emma', and I love the integrity, thought, humour and artistic individuality she brings to all her projects. She's the perfect person to give voice to my characters and I can't wait for everyone to hear this audiobook.”
Jessica Barnfield, senior audio editor at Fourth Estate, commented: “Tanya is fast becoming one of my favourite audiobook voices, and I was delighted when she agreed to read Magpie. Her pared back and thoughtful narration is the perfect match for Elizabeth’s striking and layered novel, which I think listeners will love as much for the psychological complexity of its characters as for its shocking twists and turns.”
