Summersdale has bought a travel memoir from journalist Rosie Millard on her travels through France's overseas territories.
Editorial and rights director Jennifer Barclay bought Bonnes Vacances! from Jennifer Christie at Graham Maw Christie. Barclay paid a four figure sum for world rights excluding North America.
The book, which will be published in June 2011, charts Millard's family's travels through the "Dom-Toms" or the French Overseas Departments and Territories. Millard travels with her husband and four young children on a tight budget through five continents in 14 weeks to make a television documentary series.
Barclay said: "The book will offer insights, amusement and hope for anyone who has ever travelled en famille, as well as offering Francophiles a window onto the unusual margins of French culture in such places as Martinique and French Polynesia."
Millard begins as the new homes and interiors columnist for the Daily Telegraph's Saturday Property section this weekend and also writes regularly for the Sunday Times.
