Summer sizzle pushes books sales to 2006 high

<p>A host of summer promotions on the high street, internet and in non-traditional outlets took book sales to their highest level of the year last week.

Revenue through BookScan's Total Consumer Market in the seven days to 5th August totalled &#163;30.4m on sales of nearly 4.5 million books. That was an increase of 3.2% on the previous seven days and double the growth recorded in the corresponding week in 2005.
