David Suchet CBE has recorded the first ever full-length audio version of the New International Version Bible spoken by a single British actor for Hodder & Stoughton.
The 80-hour recording will be available on MP3 CD (four CDs) and as an audio digital download. E-books of each section of the Bible enhanced with Suchet's audio narration will also be available.
Suchet, who is best known for his television portrayal of Agatha’s Christie’s detective Poirot and has been a practicing Christian since 1986, has previously read the Gospel of St John for an earlier Hodder project. For the New International Version Bible recording, he spent over 200 hours in the recording studio.
Developed by Biblica, formerly the International Bible Society, the New International Version has been assembled over several years by the Committee on Bible Translation, overseeing the efforts of a number of contributing scholars.
Hodder & Stoughton will release the NIV Audio Bible on 24th April in CD and digital for £39.99.
