Gollancz has acquired a fantasy novella by Patrick Rothfuss in a “substantial six-figure deal”.
The Slow Regard of Silent Things is part of Rothfuss’s fantasy Kingkiller universe.
Gollancz publishing director, Gillian Redfearn, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights for the novella from Caspian Dennis of the Abner Stein Literary Agency on behalf of Matt Bialer and Sanford J. Greenburger Associates.
The Slow Regard of Silent Things focuses on Auri, “one of the most popular and intriguing characters” from the Kingkiller world.
The first two novels in the Kingkiller series, The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear, are also published by Gollancz.
Redfearn, said: “I’ve adored Patrick Rothfuss’ writing from the moment The Name of the Wind landed on my desk and, with a hefty thump, signalled the arrival of an exceptional new writer in the genre.”
The novella is due for publication in November, priced at £12.99 in hardback and £6.99 in e-book.
