Faber c.e.o. Stephen Page and his band Shabby Road will headline a gig, celebrating The Beatles, to raise money for the National Literacy Trust.
Page will play drums in the five-piece band with fellow publishing insiders to mark a 50th anniversary celebration of the 1969 album, under the banner ‘Gigs for Literacy’ at the 100 Club in Soho, London on 23rd September.
Former Faber publishing director, Hannah Griffiths, now head of literary acquisitions at all3media, will provide bass guitar and backing vocals. Author and co-host of “Backlisted” podcast Andy Miller will be on vocals and keyboard while electric guitar will be covered by David 'Klaf' Klafkowski, c.e.o. of global production company The Farm Group. Musician and education worker Malcolm MacWatt will play guitar and do backing vocals.
Page said: "On turning 50, I had one bucket-list item: to play ‘Abbey Road’ with a group of like-minded and spirited amateur musicians… Once we've played this gig in September, we'll be thinking about the next - and hoping we can encourage other talented colleagues to throw their hats into the ring."
