A collection of stories from Stephen King and the autobiography of footballer Didier Drogba will be among the new releases from Hodder & Stoughton this year.
The Hachette UK division last night (12th March) held its annual showcase event, unveiling its highlights for the year ahead, which also include the first book about former Beatle Paul McCartney, endorsed by him, and a series of Great British Bake Off titles.
A number of authors were also at the event, held at 8 Northumberland in London, including Gyles Brandreth, Sophie Hannah and Ella Woodward.
King's The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, to be released in hardback in November, will be a collection of 20 stories, some previously published and some new.
Publisher Nick Sayers said that King would write an introduction to every story, making it the most the author has written about his craft since his book On Writing (Hodder & Stoughton).
Hodder & Stoughton will also release the autobiography, as yet untitled, of Chelsea footballer Drogba this October as a £20 hardback.
Drogba previously released an autobiography in 2008 with Aurum Press.
Other big non-fiction titles include Leading by Sir Alex Ferguson with Sir Michael Moritz, which Hodder & Stoughton announced before the showcase yesterday. At the event, Hodder & Stoughton c.e.o. Jamie Hodder-Williams revealed that publication of book would coincide with a "huge prime-time documentary with Michael Moritz", and that the launch would be held in Manchester.
Conversations with McCartney by Paul Du Noyer will be a collection of interviews with the musician since 1989. Hodder said it will be the first book to be endorsed by McCartney.
Also released this year will be Steph and Dom's Guide to Life (Coronet) by Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker, Word Play by Gyles Brandreth (Coronet), and Second Innings by former England cricketer Freddie Flintoff (Hodder & Stoughton).
A series of books will be released by Hodder & Stoughton under the Great British Bake Off brand. There will be four Bake It Better books, each covering a different area of baking, while Great British Bake Off: Celebrations will coincide with the next series of the BBC One television programme. In October Hodder & Stoughton will release Great British Bake Off: Another Slice of 2015, which will be a look back on the show.
