Simon & Schuster has bought world rights at auction to a memoir by 'X-Factor' judge Dannii Minogue. Non-fiction editorial director Mike Jones beat three other publishers at auction to buy the rights from Pat Lomax at Bell Lomax Literary Agency for an undisclosed sum. The book will be published in autumn 2010.
Minogue will co-write the book with songwriter and author Terry Ronald, who has collaborated with Minogue on her top 10 singles including 'This is It' and 'All I Wanna Do'. The untitled book will give an account of Minogue's childhood in Australia, her teenage appearances in 'Home and Away', life with her sister Kylie, pop career and role as an X-Factor judge.
Jones said: "Dannii has an amazing story to tell. She's greatly loved and admired here in the UK and around the world. Dannii has never written about her life before, and this promises to be a revealing, personal, touching and hugely entertaining book. We're extremely proud to be publishing this book with Dannii and looking forward to working with her, and bringing it to a wide audience this coming autumn."
Minogue said: "I feel as though a whole life chapter is closing, and a new exciting one is unfolding. It feels like the right time to put pen to paper to account my first 38 years. It's important to me that the book contains all the ups and downs of my life so far, with many stories untold. I'm thrilled to be teaming up with Simon & Schuster to finally put my story on record."
