Simon & Schuster UK has promoted Sara-Jade Virtue to brand development director, fiction.
Special sales and brand director Virtue will start her new role on 4th November and will report to Clare Hey, who joins the company as publishing director, fiction, in November.
Virtue will work across the adult fiction list, identifying new talent, bringing her considerable strategic and commercial experience to the acquisition process, and helping grow the profile and sales of authors already established.
Virtue, who has worked in the UK Sales Department at S&S for 12 years, has played an "integral part" in the publishing of its commercial women’s fiction, including creating and running Books & the City, its flourishing online community for women’s fiction, said the publisher.
Suzanne Baboneau, managing director, adult publishing division, said: "Sara-Jade is one of the absolute best in the business and we are delighted that she will be joining the Adult Editorial department at a key time of projected growth. This new role makes the most of Sara-Jade’s commercial acumen, strategic thinking, creativity and ambition for our authors. Her generosity and passion for books – both by Simon & Schuster authors and across the publishing spectrum – and her dedication to the industry shine through. We are excited to see her thrive in this new role."
Virtue added: "After twelve hugely rewarding, fulfilling and fun years in the Sales department at Simon & Schuster, I’m absolutely thrilled to be moving into editorial and to be working more closely with Suzanne, Clare and the rest of the team to help grow and develop our fiction list. It’s my absolute dream job, and I’m incredibly grateful and feel very privileged that I get to do it with my friends in the very best sales, marketing and publicity departments in the industry."
