BBC Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen is to write a book on the recent uprisings in the Middle East for publication in autumn 2012 by Simon & Schuster.
Editorial director Mike Jones bought UK and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada from Julian Alexander at LAW to the book, provisionally entitled The Arab Spring.
Bowen said: "The book will tell the story of the revolutions, uprisings and wars that are shaking—and reshaping—the Middle East and North Africa. I've seen them happen at close quarters—from Tahrir Square to Tripoli."
Jones said: "Jeremy's reporting from Egypt, Libya and the rest of the Middle East has brought great clarity and insight to the events as they have unfolded. The book envisaged will be the defining book about those events, drawing on Jeremy's extensive knowledge of the region, its politicians and its people."
